Belle Vue Maurel
Belle Vue in France was one of the most beautiful gardens of Madame de Pompadour. The garden was inaugurated by King Louis XV in 1750.
There was a sugar factory and estate in the village owned by a local firm E.Lacoste & Cie. The village was named after a certain Monsieur Maurel who was one of the directors of the company.
Antoine Edouard Maurel acquired 2375 square yards of land in Riviere-Du-Rempart on the 11th July 1862. Belle Vue Maurel is essentially agricultural and residential today.
