Amitie/Gokoolah

The village draws its name from an old sugar estate acquired in 1809 by the Pitot and De Sornay brothers.

The sugar factory was built between 1821 and 1827. The old chimney can still be seen in the vicinity.

Today the village, situated between Gokhoola and Mon Loisir, is inhabited by agricultural workers employed by Mon Loisir Sugar Estate.
