In view of assisting and stimulating, development and business, the the Business Facilitation Act, 2006 has replaced the above two permits with "The Building and Land Use Permit" following amendments to the Town and Country Planning Act, the Building Act and the Local Government Act.

The permitting system is also governed by the Outline Planning Scheme for the North which is prepared in accordance to the Town and Country Planning Act 1954 taking into account provisions made in the National Development Strategy and the Planning and Development Act 2004. Also, the Planning Policy Guidance (PPG) issued under the latter Act is a tool for assessing applications for development proposals and covers design guidance for residential, commercial, industrial and coastal developments.

Applications are received between 9.30 to noon and 12.30 to 14.00 hrs from Monday to Friday, at District Council Office, Mapou.

Applicants must call in person at the Planning Department for any information or advice on development application. You may collect the application form from the Planning Department. The Building and Land Use guide is also available for consultation for any form of development or you can download from the council’s website. (http://www.prdconline.org}. You can use this guide as a checklist for completing your plans and other supporting documentation. If your application includes all the required details, we can deal with it within the prescribed delay.
